Mac Arthur Foundation (The John D. and Catherine T. Mac Arthur Foundation): Mac Arthur Foundation has provided UWEFI a total grant of US $ 1.5 million towards the establishment of the institute at Lamegompa, Bumthang.

Project period: Jan, 2005- Dec, 2007, extended to December, 2009.

• The funds are specifically used/will be used for infrastructural development (construction of boys and girls hostel, Academic building, Cafeteria, etc.), and procurement of the institute vehicles (DCM truck, TATA Telcoline and Toyota Coaster Bus).

Danish LGA Support: The Danish LGA grant has provided UWEFI total grant of DKK 4.00 million for the establishment of the institute is Lamegompa, Bumthang.

Project period: January 2006 - December, 2008.

The following are the areas supported by DANIDA LGA grant;

• Curriculum development & Training Needs Assessment: DKK 1,500,000.00
• Environmental & Forestry Library: DKK 250,000.00
• Environmental & Forestry Laboratory: DKK 800,000.00
• Faculty development: 1,300,000.00
• Support for enabling resources: 150,000.00

BTFEC Grant (Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation): BTFEC provided the institute with the grant amount of US $ 300,000.00

Project period: 1st October, 2005- 30th June, 2008, extended to 30th June, 2010.

The following are the areas supported:

Architectural consultancy fees: US$ 100,000.00 (in kind)

Faculty & Infrastructure development (Staff quarter): US $ 200,000.00,

WWF– Bhutan Program : A total grant of Nu.3.8 million is being supported through WWF-Bhutan program ( Sukey Wagner Foundation) for the establishment of Institutes’s Library, LAN & IT facilities

Paul Getty Conservation Leadership Award:The institute is fortunate and honored to receive a grant of US$ 200,000.00 conferred to His Majesty, the fourth King of Bhutan. This grant will be used to support the following activities:

• Up gradation and refresher courses (In-country)
• Faculty development
• Establishment of Long term student research endowment fund.
• Establishment of Institutes’s endowment fund for research & development
• Student/Faculty exchange program
• Establishment of Honorary visiting faculty position in honor of His Majesty’s farsighted leadership in conservation and human development.

Bhutan Foundation: Bhutan Foundation has granted UWEFI  with a total amount of Nu. 265,880 (US$ 6800) to support Library establishment.
